Zold

Zold · specification · rev 1

The spec sheet.

Every number that governs a coin on Zold, on one page, written so it can be checked against the contracts on Robinhood Chain rather than believed. None of it is adjustable per launch.

Pair token.

01 · What the curve is priced in

A curve is denominated in one ERC-20: its pair token. Every buy pays in it, every sell pays out in it, and the curve’s balance of it is what the coin is a claim on. On Zold the pair token is one of three things.

  • GLDTokenized gold on Robinhood Chain, used as-is. The curve holds GLD.
  • SLVTokenized silver on Robinhood Chain, used as-is. The curve holds SLV.
  • BasketA basket unit: an ERC-20 minted 1:1 against a fixed proportion of GLD and SLV by Zold’s basket factory. The curve holds units; each unit is a claim on its two components.

Nothing else. A basket here has at most two components, and both must be GLD or SLV.

Basket units.

02 · Presets and custom mixes

A basket unit is defined at creation as about one dollar of metal, split by the weights the founder picks. The component amounts per unit are fixed from that moment on. The dollar value of a unit is not; it moves with GLD and SLV.

  • BimetalGLD 70 / SLV 30 by value at creation. The default preset.
  • Silver heavyGLD 30 / SLV 70 by value at creation. The other preset.
  • CustomAny GLD / SLV split in whole percent summing to 100. Two components, no third asset.
  • MintDeposit the components in the unit’s proportion, receive units 1:1. Gas only.
  • BurnReturn units, receive the components in the same proportion. Any holder, any time, before or after graduation. Gas only.
Buying a basket coin

Approve GLD and SLV, sign one transaction. The router pulls the metal, mints units, buys on the curve, and sends the coin to you.

Selling one

Sign one transaction. The router sells the coin for units, burns them, and sends GLD and SLV back to you.

Single-metal coins skip the router: you trade GLD or SLV against the curve directly.

Fees.

03 · What it costs and who gets it

  • Launch feePaid once, in ZEC. The launch page shows one Zcash address and the exact amount before anything is sent. A payment that is short or never arrives is returned to the refund address the founder gave.
  • Creator fee2% of every buy and sell on the curve, in the pair token, to the founder. On a basket coin it accrues in the curve and becomes claimable once the raise target is hit.
  • Basket mint / burnNo fee. Gas only.
  • CurveThe curve’s own fee schedule applies on top of the creator fee. The exact quote, fees included, is shown on the market page before you sign.

Zold’s site takes nothing from a trade. It prepares calldata and lists what launched.

Graduation.

04 · When the curve closes

Every curve has a raise target, set in its pair token and shown on the market page before you trade. What happens when it is hit depends on the pair token. It is a mechanical limit, not a promise or a forecast. Most coins never reach it.

  • GLD or SLV coinAt the target the curve closes and its liquidity moves to a Uniswap pool. From then on the coin trades in that pool, against the same metal, at whatever price the pool finds.
  • Basket coinThere is no move to a pool. The coin trades on its own curve for good. Graduation means only that the raise target was hit, and the founder’s accrued 2% becomes claimable.

Basket units can be burned for their components at every stage. Graduation never changes what a unit is.

Redemption.

05 · Getting metal back

Two ways out. Both are transactions you sign yourself.

  • SellSell the coin on its curve (or, for a graduated GLD or SLV coin, in its Uniswap pool) and receive the pair token. If the pair token is a basket unit, the router burns it in the same transaction and you receive GLD and SLV.
  • BurnHold units directly? Burn them at the factory for their components, 1:1, in the minted proportion. No curve involved.
  • RateCoin to pair token: whatever the curve or pool says at that moment. Unit to components: fixed at creation, always 1:1.

What it is not.

06 · Read this twice

Not insured. Not a deposit. Not a guarantee of anything. A coin can trade to nothing against its pair token. Tokenized gold and silver are tokens with their own issuers and their own markets; Zold does not custody them, price them, or stand behind them.

Trades are never signed for you. The site prepares calldata and lists what launched; buyers and sellers sign with their own wallets. A founder pays for a launch in ZEC and the launch transaction is sent for them. If this site went away, the curves, the units and the pools would still be on chain.

  • ChainRobinhood Chain, chain id 4663.
  • CurvesSingle-metal coins launch on a permissionless curve protocol that accepts GLD and SLV as pair tokens. Basket coins launch on Zold’s own curve contract, which has the same buy and sell interface.
  • BasketsZold’s basket factory and router. Two components, GLD and SLV only.
  • CustodyNone.
  • GuaranteeNone.
